Identifying a Transmission
Identifying a Transmission
I have a rebuilt trany a guy gave me, he thought it was a 350, but it doesnt look anything like one, my question is rather there is some site I could go to to get it IDed. I have been unable to find one, and was hoping there was another why to figure out besides taking it to the local shop.
Thanks

Thanks guys, as far as the pan goes it dosnt match any of them, and I went out and bought a book on all GM trany and the code on the tag didnt match any of them, and it dosnt look like any I was able to find pics of, so thats were I am at.
Thanks

You know what I just went out and checked, and I was wrong the pan does look like the 350, but the trany doesnt. I thought it was a 350 and I was planning on putting on an adaptor to replace my 700-r4, but as far as I can tell it doesnt have the four bolts on the shaft that the adapter needs to fit, I know almost nothing about tranys, so if I am not making sense let me know and I'll try to be more specific.
Adaptre kit this is the kit I was going to use but my trany dosnt have the collar for thos bolts, am I missing something obviouse?

Is that even a GM transmission?
As far as I know all th350 had a tailshaft that is removable. Can you get a picture of the pan?

kinda looks like a 200 r4 to me. but I also have a feeling of chrysler too. are there any GM stamps in the casting. does the bolt pattern match a chevy pattern, could be a BOP pattern 200r4 as well. ???

you got F***ed bro. that's a thm200c. it came in fbodies from like 82-83 (3rd gens). it also came in a couple of the bigger cars, too, which is why you don't have bolt holes. i hope you didn't pay anything for it. good luck.

that'd be a big 10-4. hawk to someone with a g-body and needs a stock 3-speed. go hunt around in the J-Y. any truck or f-body or even big-body cars pre-79 will definitely have a th350 or th400. if you still don't find a tranny, come back and ask me. i have a spare.
