What I have is a 86 Iroc with a drum brake rear set up(stock), I have a posi rear with disc brakes i want to put on.
Is this a straight drop and swap? or is there other parts that i have to buy to make this work? Any thing to look out for?
Any information would be great. If it helps i beleive that the posi rear came out of a 84 Camaro. Thanks!

I believe it is a direct swap other than the pressure the new disk brakes will see. I havent done much brake work but I would guess that you would need a new master cyl for the disks or a proportioning valve to limit the pressure to the rear. Try a search for brake pressure and see what that gives you.

negative. direct bolt-in, except for e-brake cables. get those off of the donor. everything else, including the master cylinder, is the same.

i think the real question is posi disk rear from what? 3rd and 4th gen f bodys will be direct bolt in with minor differances, liek brake cables, maybe differant flare fittings, and PV may need changed.

82-97 fit perfectly, except for the brake cables. the fittings are the same, and the pv works fine. 98-02 takes more finesse, but they still bolt in. the tricky part is the brake cables.

Other than possible minor fitment issues, it will bolt-in. However, if the disc rear has the Moraine iron calipers, the braking power of the system will probably be less than the drum brakes you've got now.Originally posted by Petrella90

For around $100-200 you can find a 93-97 4th gen posi 28-spline rear which will also bolt into 3rd gen cars. Other than possible minor e-brake cable changes and the longer axles extending each wheel 1.5 inches on each side, this setup will offer much better brakes in the form of PBR calipers and 12-inch rotors.
A search here will turn-up lots of info about 4th gen rears into 3rd gen. Whatever you decide, swapping rears on 3rd gens is one of the easier driveway jobs to do.

i can tell you with all certainty if it was from an 84 camaro, it has moraine calipers and it will suck *** in braking. swap those bastards for some PBRs.
