Clutch pedal has no tension at all

Hello, I was driving to the store today, and after the 1-2 shift, i went to shift to 3rd when i think my toe caught under the clutch pedal, it then went limp with no tension at all, i was able to get it home. When examing the pedal area, i saw what the problem was, the metal loop that attached to the notch on the clutch popped off. after putting it back on, i could push the clutch in but if i pull back on the clutch it immidietly pops off. I looked closer and there seems to be a piece of plastic that is attached to the notch on the clutch pedal that is broken. does anyone know what plastic piece is called, has anyone else had this happen, any suggestions would be really appreciated
