Problem putting car in park!

I have to basiclly slam the shifter into park to get it locked there! What is wrong here?

Axle/Gears: 3:73:1

Well if the shifter mechanism looks all right, [just had the detent spring break on mine] i would check cable adjustment first.
Dont forget after checking cable adjustment to also adjust the inhibitor switch, you dont always need to, but its easy done.
