Hi,
I'm in process of reserching to replace my 200c. Now theres nothing with my 200c. It was rebuild by AAMCO 12 years ago and has performed fawesly ever since. But due to every increasing price of gas, I had decided it best to switch it out for the 700r4.
Now before you switch out the 200c for a 350, there is one thing you need to consider. The main advanage that 200c has over the 350 is the taller 1st gear ratio. The 700r4 has the same 1st gear ratio as the 200c.
Now you may ask what drifferance will this make. Well to simply put Your car will accelerate more slowly with the 350 then with the 200c/700r4.
So its best switch to the 700r4. Not only will you maintain the acceleration of your car, you will also get better MPG because of the overdrive.

So shipping would cost as much as the tranny....which by then i could pay less with just buying one here.BruceEmbry - Thanx for all the info, I guess Im gonna pick up a 700r4, and throw a shift kit in it, and then look around for a tranny cooler.
BIG QUESTION IS
Will a regular 700r4 hold that power? The engine is rated at 400hp and 435tq

It is a performance build that shifts extremely hard, has a manual valvebody, comes with shift kit, corvette servo, red eagle clutches and a few other good quality parts that I can't remember. Builder says it's good to 700 HP. Had it behind a 400+ HP 350. Has about 3000 or so miles use on it through a big *** tranny cooler. Only ran Mobil 1 synthetic trans fluid through it as well. Gear ratios are the same as a factory 700r4: 3.06 first, 1.62 second, 1.00 third, and .76 fourth. This is great for anyone who wants an overdrive tranny for a street car with an SBC/BBC, or needs an upgrade to a blown stock tranny in their 3rd gen. Can also be used in place of a 4L60E if you get a kickdown/TV cable kit for it. $550 it's yours. Only selling cause I need the money for other things.

Also, my 700R4 had a stock rebuild done about 10,000 miles prior to me putting the new motor in (old motor was the stocker lightly modified - drove it daily never really beat it). With the new motor (400+HP) it started slipping after 50 miles and a handful of 1/4 mile test passes. My friend had a TH350 that sat in a junked car for 15 years then sat outside uncovered for over a year. I took it to another friend who cleaned all the parts, threw a generic no-frills rebuild kit into it with a shift kit. Cost me $250 total and its been operating flawlessly ever since. I beat the crap out of it and its never skipped a beat. Sure not having O/D sucks at times but if you're building a "fun" kinda car a TH350 is the way to go... Dollar-to-reliability hands down it wins.

Axle/Gears: bunch of 10 bolts how scary is that
TH700R4 + B&M Transkit + B&M Console Megashifter About 600$ and you have a brand new tranny.

I wouldnt say thats entirely true... It will feel faster in first gear but overall I would bet it'd be faster with a TH350. From a drag racers prespective: When I had a 700R4 in my car with a 2600RPM stall the car would launch very violently, spin the tires bad, and 1st gear would be over almost instantly. Then I had problems with the car falling out of its powerband during shifts which meant I had to over-rev it. Now with the TH350 w/ 3500 stall my car leaves hard but not violently and when you shift it the motor barely drops in RPM.

It all depends on what you want to do, the current finally gear ratio etc. Sure thing if you put a 700r4 into a car with a very tall rear end (ex 3.73) yes it will spin tires.
But if someone has a 200c and the stock rear end, then you not going to beat a 700r4 for all around driveablity and fual economy.
I have a 350 Tune Port Injected motor that makes lots of Torque and Horspower from 1500 to 5500 RPMs. I don't drag race etc, I just enjoy driving the car for fun. I need the overdrive to inprove the fual econmy. Right now its getting about 18MPG @ 70 to 80 MPH. With the 700r4 the MPG should go up to 25.
As for reliabity, if it build right, it will last, it doesnt matter if it a 200c, 350, 400, or 700r4. My 200c has over 120,000 miles on it without problems. It going up for sell very soon.

Because of the lower ratio of the 1st gear in the th350, in a way that would be better for traction because it wouldnt spin as easily right? Exscuse my stupidness if im wrong
