How do I make my own tranny cooler lines?

Ok, I have some ghetto tranny lines with rubber hose and would rather have full metal lines. How do I go about this? What all do I need and where do I buy thel ine? what size do I need? Im running a TH350 w/2400 stall so tranny cooler is planned a bit later on but for now its not. Can I buy the fitting to screw into the tranny or will I have to use my old ones? I assume I need a flare tool and line and the ends off my old line correct??? any special bending tools? Need these done, going to be dropping the new combo in here pretty soon. Thanks.

You can make your own steel lines from scratch, your local parts stores should have the correct fittings. Bending steel lines is hard to do especially if you want to keep it looking nice. In my opinion you would be better off running braided lines or cutting off the stock steel lines and converting to braided.
I cut off the stock steel lines at the front of the motor and converted to braided line using compression fittings on my car. Heres a post with the part #'s.

bending steel line is easy.
bending alum line is even easier.
bending stainless steel lines is harder.. but still not too hard.

your local autoparts store should have "brake line" or "fuel line" you can use.. you can also order the tubing in rolls.

if money is tight, you can rent a flare tool from autozone... they take a deposit, and when you return the tool, you get your money back.

for the bender, you want one with two handles, like this:

they're cheap and autozone, lowes, ect has them....

do NOT get the super cheap one like this:

any of the benders with one handle, that require you to press on the tube to bend it, generally wont be easy to use, and they usually dont do a good job.

once you have your lines and bender, start out by mocking your lines, either with a coathanger wire, cardboard or by eye... depending on what you feel comfortable with... then bend the line, check, bend, check ect... its not hard... but it is time consuming until you gain enough experiance that you can eyeball stuff and have it look right.
