T5 power gains?
Not sure if this is the right forums. Please switch it if it isn't. But i was just wonder, what type of power output will i see from a bone stock 4 bolt 350 if i did a T5 swap w/ 24# injectors. And if anyone has any 1/4 times? Thanks for advice and input.

What is the 350 out of and specs? The t-5 may not be able to hold up. If you can launch and shift, you may be able to knock off a half second from your et's compared to a stock 700r with stock torque converter. Note: stock 700r and stock stall. A properly stalled auto with a solid shift kit is a diffeent story

T5's hold up fine with people that drive them cautiously.
You may not be able to shift faster than an auto, but nothing beats rowing the gears through 6500rpm.

most people that destroy T-5's beat the **** out of them. ie, power shifting. Unless you're just making rediculous power for a T-5, it'll last long enough. Of course its not going to last forever, mine was going south when I pulled it, but it lasted about 2 good years with nothing going wrong.

t-56
spohn xmemeber and tq arm
dakota digital recal box
a few connectors and other easy odds and ends
Anything else you need would be applicable to a t-5 as well. It is not hard to swap in a t-56.....just costly.

for the cost of a T-56 swap you can send your T-5 case in to TKO or G-force and have it built to handle some serious HP. i also like the fact that you can drop a T-5 with a jack and 1 person.
as for rowin gears, both my 83 T/A and my formula are stick cars. hell everything i have owned over the past 10 years has been stick. my GF hadta show me how to drive an auto all over again!!!!!!!!

But do a search and see how many people have had there t-5s destroyed when making power. There is a reason they were not on option on L98s.....

There's more to rowing the gears than just powershifting.
I can popt he clutch and chirp the tires through third, without powershifting at all.
Can your 700 do that?
It's all about preference. T5's are fun, and simple. When it goes, I'll rebuild it or have some place rebuild it. It's a pain in heavy traffic, but it never sees traffic anymore.
Hwy's and country roads.

Btw I have a t-56 as well, w/ spec stage 3 clutch and Pro 5.0 shifter. It use to be in my old car w/ a 383, and now it is anxiously awaiting to go in my rs, but I have to get that engine done first. I love manual cars, they are more fun and give you more control over your car. But case in point the t-5 is just not strong. But you are right about the preference thing, go with what ya feel and what you enjoy more.

I think if you hooked hard during a powershift, you'd be shopping for a new tranny. I'm not a fan of powershifting, even on Muncie's. Eventually everything can be broken.

Being only 18. I decided to stick with reliability. I tend to beat the **** out of my car. And dont really like having to swich over a tranny or a rear end. So im just gonna use allll that money that i woulda spent on a swap on a nice tranny setup n probably a ford 9 rear. Thanks for everyones input tho =)
