hi i think my driveshaft has too much play in it or something...

When i have the car is D and hit the gas at prolly 35 let off hit it again let off hit it again and so on i get a little clunk noise like the driveshaft connecting to the rear differential...thats where the noise sounds like its coming from.

Its not that loud of a clunk just enough to annoy you though.

What is drive shaft balancing? Whats the point how do you do it?

And worn out U joints? such a thing? how easy to replace? how expensive?

Im guessing this little clunk came from too many burnouts...even though ive calmed down quite a bit.

Also have a very faint but still there whining sound from the rear at certain speeds...not that loud but i can hear it. Sign of the rear about to go?

Thanks, Steve

replaced that with a poly mount over 5 months ago

I know what it was like without one this is much different and not nearly as bad.

Possibly excessive backlash in the differential.

Oh and also to add i got under the car i could turn the driveshaft about 1/8 of a turn back and forth with the car in park. Is that play suppose to be there normally?

And and price estimate on how much new U joints would be?

Is it worth yanking some from a car in the junkyard...they dont wear out commonly do they?

They do wear if you give them to much hammer, i'm surprised at how small the u\j even on my 305 is, it seems tiny for the engine size.
But a decent breakers yard should have one or two that a little old lady has been driving around.
