If my car has the 2.77 gear am I stuck with that?, or does someone make a 3.73 gear for my carrier.

I'm wanting to think that you can only put a 3.73 in a carrier that originally had at least the 3.27 in the 9 bolt.

You'd have to upgrate to a 3 series carrier as stated above. Meaning a carrier from a rear that had/has 3.27 or numerically higher gear ratio.

So anyone that wants to upgrade there rear and has a 2.77 carrier is SOL?

Maybe not SOL. I'm waiting on some replies in another post to make sure the info I have is correct but you can get new parts from AUS. The diff is a newer design but should work, based on info I currently have. I don't feel the price is too terrible either.

check them out, i'm pretty sure he told me the 9-bolt carriers were large enough to fit all sizes from 2.77 to 4.10+

Not SOL, just need a carrier. Shouldn't be too hard to find one. If you put a 10 bolt 2 series and 3 series carrier side by side you'll see the difference. It's kinda hard to describe in words, but it's got to do with the spacing of the ring gear (side to side) to mesh properly with the larger diameter pinion.

the carrier whould need a spacer ring or a thicker ring gear(which is not made to my knowledge)

now you could have the spacer made but, the carrier is not that hard to come by
