VSS lead and connector
VSS lead and connector
I'm putting the finishing touches on an engine swap, but wound up with an extra connector under the car. It's on the same branch as the backup light switch, the connector for which breaks out in the middle. The connector in question is at the end, fed by one yellow and one purple wire.
From the best I can tell it'd fit a VSS if I had one in the trans (T-5), except that my car has a cable
In the heat of battle I managed to forget where it went.
Is it possible that in my year ('88) some F-bodies had a VSS in the trans and some didn't? If so, did they all perhaps get the same wire bundle?
If not, then does anyone know what and where the thing plugs into?
TIA,
Bob

My camaro was also a V6 and yes it too had a cable driven speedometer. I am going to be running an autometer electronic speedometer, and needed an electronic VSS to run it. This is a VSS from a V6 T5.

The connector on the VSS is a two wire connector, and the wires are purple and yellow as seen here.....
Thanks, Paul! That looks like the one.
One follow up question - what all was on the harness branch that went to your back-up light switch originally? Did it end at the back-up switch?
Thanks,
Bob

Well, I did alot of this modification a long long time ago. If memory serves, the only things on that 'branch' was the reverse light switch connector, at least for me. I had the V6 5 speed remember? But I guess if you had a newer model T5(89+) or an automatic transmission, you would have another connector there for the VSS.
