Trans mount

I was playing around with my father last night and on the 1-2 shift "bang" I knew right away I had broken the tranny mount. (I am all too familiar with these torque arm cars) Just to verify I played with the gas a little from time to time and it clunks in the tranny tunnel on hard shifts or leaving from a stop. I will crawl under it today to make sure. My question is,,,,,are there any particular brand Poly mount that people prefer on here? I was thinking of stopping up at the local speed shop today and looking into it. I did a search on here and went through 8 pages of posts, found some mention of poly pounts but nothing on part numbers or brand specifics. Just curious,,,thought someone may be able to save me some time shopping around. Thanks in advance, Larry.

There's 2 choices. Energy Suspension PN 3-1108(G or R, depending on what color you want) and Prothane 7-1604. I haven't heard of any problems with the Prothane mount, but some people experience vibration problems with the ES mount. If you just leave the "preload plate" out and don't install it, it usually eliminates that problem. Both cost a little over $20, and you can get them pretty much anywhere.

Summit, Jegs, and some auto parts stores sell the ES mount, while Summit and Spohn sell the Prothane mount.

FWIW, I'm using the ES tranny mount (without the preload plate) with no problems.

I have the ES with the preload plate and no problems.

poly mount.

I picked up the Energy Suspension trans mount today and installed it. Went in no problems. Just to let the curious know, I installed it with the pre-load plate (spacer) and drove the car. runs perfect, no ill affects, no vibration, no noise etc....most importantly, the trans stays put I know there was some talk about the plate causing some problems for a few people.
Thanks for the part number That came in handy when the dummies at the parts store couldn't find it, even with the part number They even stocked some ES mounts on the shelf,,,,,,,,,and then tried to sell me a stock rubber piece, and then went on trying to tell me I have something else wrong with my car if I keep breaking the stock rubber trans mount Why can't they just give me what I ask for and leave it at that. Anyway, I ended up just going to the local speed shop (should have done that in the first place) gave them the part number,,,,,, no problems,,,,,came in the next day. Thanks again,,,Larry.
