Trans Gears... What does it all mean...

Hey everyone,
I am almost done with my T5 swap. I did some digging in the Tech Database and found out what my old gears were and what my new gear are. The trans that I got is a World Class T5 from a V6. Below are the gear ratios. Please help me understand what changes this will make to my performance. 1st gear is drasticly smaller, so I am sure that will help my off-the-line performance(If I can get traction) And the highest gears in the two trans are close to eachother so my highway RPM's will be about the same. But how about everything inbetween? And what will be the overall difference?

Trans ----- 700R4----- T5

1st ------- 3.06------ 4.03
2nd ------ 1.63 ----- 2.37
3rd ------ 1.00 ------ 1.50
4th ------- 0.7 ------ 1.00
5th ------------------ .76

Thanks in Advance,
Mark B

The trans came from a 91 V6 Camaro. The it has a custom 10.5" clutch to make it work with the V8. Below is a quick chart I made from the calcualtors on this great website. Let me know what you think.

Isn't the bellhousing bolt pattern different for the 2.8 and 3.4l v-6s than the v8'?

a 4.3 liter bell has the same pattern as a v-8. the 2.8 and other v-6's are different.

Yes but he said that he got the tranny from a 91 camaro. They didn't come with 4.3l (3/4 350's).

the bell housings are removable so it would just be a matter of changing the bell housing.

NM i'm retarted, and a special clutch to make the v8.

But i hear the v6 trannys are quite a bit weaker than the v8's so...

They arent weaker. As long as its a world class, its just as strong as the V8 world class. The advantage is that the transmission has only seen V6 power all its life. So there is less wear. The only thing that may make it break faster is that the gear ratios are lower. So that will put more strain on the trans when I am racing. But that is the risk I take for getting better gears.
