shift light ALWAYS stuck on in and automatic
87 ta 305 / 700r4 around 200,000 miles. theres a light on my digital dash to the top left above the RPM gauge, ive been told it's the shift light, it doesn't say anything, just sits on, at one point it wasn't on. is this indicating that something broke/stuck on or off? any way to tell the ecm not to turn it on? without pulling the bulb out.

last try?
btw, i have tried searching, seems like everyone's problem is a little different because their light comes on with the tcc, mine's just on all the time. and it has no arrow or anything on it. i noticed there's a pin to do with that light on the connector under the dash, can i reset anything with that?
or does this mean my TCC is locked up always? (possible?)

You would know if the TCC was locked all the time, because the car would feel like it's gonna stall when it's downshifting and coming to a stop. I'm surprised there's even a bulb in the slot if the car was an automatic from the factory.

Hmm, well, I've also been having this other problem that I haven't fixed yet, that makes the car run like you described. It happends more often when the car's cold, but it will still happen somewhat randomly. I believe when the car's cold if i dont rev the engine really high when accelerating, it feels like it just gives up, i feel the pedal loose power and the SES light comes on, the car runs and sounds really crappy and rpm goes WAY down, 100/200. Have to turn it off and wait and most of the time it starts and runs normal. When the car's warm i notice it does it a little higher, around right before it'd kick into OD. By the way, the code it throws is 33, which is MAF related. One other thing that has me a little worried is that i tried doing the push the brake down a little bit while cruising, to disengage the torque converter, but i dont hear or feel any change in RPM or anything. The light I am referring to IS the shift light right? Digital dash, top left corner above the RPM. Picture:
It has no marking on it or anything.
This problem seems to be easily avoided by revving the RPM above 2000 or so when accelerating.
