What gear do i have?

I can drive my 88 Aut. 305 TPI firebird 80mph at 2000 RPM in 4th

Anyone know by this if the gears have been changed? Tires are stock dimensions

sounds like 2.73 but the only way to tell for sure is to pull the cover and count the teeth. ring divided by pinion = ratio

i have 2.73 and i turn around 2000 rpm at 80 and 1700 at 70.
tire size is 225/60r15. or is 235/60r15. bought tires cant remember but they a damn close

Please do a search next time, this topic is brought up so often. But anywho, here are the RPO codes so you can check if you don't want to take the cover off.

GU2 - 2.73
GU4 - 3.08
GU5 - 3.23
GU6 - 3.42
GW6 - 3.27
GM3 - 3.45
GT4 - 3.73
G80 - posi
G92 - performance

I have the w6 packet.... maybe i have GW6 - 3.27 ?

No, it's a sticker with a bunch of three letter digits, usually in the glove compartment or center console box. Just look for three letters/numbers with one of them combonations.

And if you're spinning 80 mph with 2000 RPM, there is no way you have 3.23, you have 2.73's forsure. Heck, i spin 1800 going 65-70 mph and i have 2.73's
