B&M Shifter Install
Well I bought a new shifter from B&M http://store.summitracing.com/ part #BMM-80776 . And I am trying to get a general idea of the things I'll need to do to install this thing. I've already removed the center console and the only other thing I need to do is remove the front seats and rip out the carpet. Will I need to remove the HVAC and stereo controls in order to get the shifter linkage installed? AND, will all the stock shifter hardware need to be removed, i.e. brackets, etc. I'm a novice to this type of install so I'll be moving slow but I really don't want to miss attatching something and then really screwing up my tranny. Which is a 700R4. If anyone has done this type of install and could help me out that would be greatly appreciated. Or if I posted in the wrong forum could a mod move it. Thanks guys. Mike

i wasn't aware that shifter could be used in a camaro or firebird becuase of the console. i use a mega shifter and it works great. the megashifter is designed to fit third gens.

Well it is coming along A LOT more difficult than expected. It does fit in the console with some fabbing up of parts, I would have liked the mega shifter, but it was just a little too much money for a shifter. My biggest problem right now is to get the shift linkage adjusted correctly. I can't seem to get the shifter to go into neutral, reverse or park, it just stops at OverDrive. OH well, just a few more hours underneath my transmission wont kill me.
