T5 Grinding in second

Hey guys. I was just hoping to get opinions on the following scenario:

The NWC T5 (2.8) seems to grind when downshifting from 3rd to second only when at 2000 or more rpm (when in third). I don't normally experience it since I only downshift to second when approaching a corner. I tried downshifting from 4th to 3rd and no problem even when ending up at 3000 rpm (in second).

Could this be normal for a NWC T5 or is there something wrong??

thanks.

Anyone, I really need some suggestions here. By the way I forgot to mention that it was just rebuilt (all new synchros and bearings) which obviously is an important bit of info that I forgot

if its only occuring during downshifting then theres something wrong with your synchros, eventhough they are new.

if fluid was the problem it would most likely be doing it in every gear. sounds to me like synchros. did you rebuild it or did someone else? I would suspect a non-new synchro.

I rebuilt it but there is all new synchros in there. I got the complete rebuild kit......and they are definitely installed correctly.

mine grinds going into 2nd if i shift at high rpms to fast.and i wont replace or fix it till it grinds every time i shift.its old junk anyway,140,000miles at least, and it had no fliud in it when i bought it.

grind it till it fits,i guess.

but seriously,it sounds like something screwed something up,
i dont know jack about the inside of a trans, but if its grinding new parts, there is no way the are all installed correctly.

your probably missing one stupid washer or spacer,or something is too far out of tolerance.

sadly, your proably going to have to tear it down it to find out whats wrong.

id say just get a used one and drive it till it falls apart, could take another 20years,i have alway considered transmissions
one of those either it works or it doesnt things.but thats just my opinion.
