Car already manual. Any problems with this type of swap?

I have an 87 Iroc vert with 305 tpi 5 speed. Car has been sitting for years in my garage until could afford to fix up. Found a donor 89 Iroc with 350 automatic. I want to keep the T5 for now. Any transmission problems I should be on the look out for just swapping the engines/wiring harnesses/computer? Just want to make sure everything goes together smoothly.

Thanks

What trans is it? If its a TH-350 trans it will be a piece of cake a lil more if its a 700R4 with a lockup because of the wiring.

If you already have the TPI and harness in your car, why bother changing harnesses? Just swap in the complete 350 motor, swap computer chips, leave the 9th injector plug off, (it's not on your '89 motor anyway) and change steering columns so the VATS will work. Since the '89 had an auto and you want to keep your manual trans, you'll also have to put a jumper wire between the park/neutral switch on top of the column (black plug with two wires on it) so the ECM thinks it's in gear all the time.

Well, like I said the car has been sitting for about 3 years now and I've already pulled the wiring harness along with most of the intake and a whole bunch of other stuff over the years. Figured it would just be easier to swap out the other harness with the engine.

Good point with the steering column. Didn't think about that. Will have to remember about the black wire

It clear up anything. My car is an 1987 305 TPI with the T5 convertible. Part car is an 1989 350 w/700R4.
