Question for the Firebird guys with T56
Alright, you know how on the Firebird 5-speed shift plate, there's the 5-speed patter for the T-5 that lights up when the headlights and the other interior lights are on? What if you swap a T56 into your car and use the stock console? What do you do about that pattern, do you just cover it up or swap to the 4th gen console?
Has anybody ever tried removing that shift pattern from the shift plate? Is it glued on or snap on?
The reason why I ask is because I'm in the process of making a replacement plate for the Firebirds out of gray and transparent plastic that will look stock when installed. I'm fabricating it for my cousin's 89 GTA. It will have the 6-speed pattern and be able to be lit up at night with the rest of the interior lights so it looks like it belongs there instead of just having a sticker with the T56 shift pattern on it.

Hey if you ever get it done post some pic's, maybe even make a extra one for me
I'am sure there is a few of us that would pay for something like that.

Yeah, no problem. It's my plan to make a bunch for sale actually. But do you know if it's glued on or snap on? we only have one shifter plate to work with in mint condition and I don't want to butcher it trying to get the thing out. it'll probably be a few weeks before I get a prototype done though.

I picked one of those up at a salvage yard for a T5 swap into another car.
I think the housing is glued to the console. I know the pattern part that lights up is glued to the housing.
I've now swapped that T5 for a T56 so I'd be interested in one, too.
Shoot me an email at tpiolds@yahoo.com when you get em done
