HELP! Governor Valve

I’m going to take out the governor on my 700R4 tomorrow and see if it is the cause of my problem (at first it would slip into other gears, now it wont even shift past second). Anyways I was hopping someone could give me specific advise on what to look for, best place to find the replacement parts, and any important techniques to apply. Thanks for any quick responses, cause I've got to get this done.

Thanks for your detailed help, I will be under my car first thing in the morning. I know if the governor checks out OK that there are other problems that could be causing this. Are there any other things I could check as easily as the governor that would help me diagnose the problem. Thanks again I really do apreciate the expertise.

You can try looking closely at the tv cable, tv valve and the tv spring. The springs get weak, the cables stretch and can cause some problems.

The 3-4 clutch pack is the weak point on the 700R4. This is probably what happened in your case. Time for rebuild.

check to see if the valve goes up and down when you squeeze the weights together. it should move up when you do it. mine moved up and down, but too much and it would stick and then i drop...i didnt notice how wrong it looked till i saw a new one in working order.
