Shift linkage problems?
As i was shifting my car into park, i realized that no longer does my 1990 iroc-z with an automatic transmission seem to have a park gear, its almost as if every gear on the shifter plate has been pushed up one, removing park from the equation, now, when i shift into park, im in reverse, then a gap, then neutral, overdrive, drive, 2nd then first... however when i disassembled my center console to take a look to see if maybe it was just some minor misalignment, i realized that there is a big metal piece blocking the shifter from going any further than it does.... so now I apparently have no park gear... Does anyone have clues on wtf is happening?

It could be loose and has moved. The manual shaft on the transmission itself is slotted to provide some adjustment where the cable bolts to it.

Check the cable first for anything apparent like being broke. If it looks ok then it might need adjustment.
Do you mean the letters on the console indicator are not lining up with the shifter or when the shifter is all the way foreward the trans is not in park? Car rolls ect. If it's the first one then the plate with the letters on it can move back and forth. If it doesn't say go into park then the shifter cable needs to be adjusted. You do that where the cable connects to the trans. shifter linkage. There is sort of a smiley face curve in it. Cable can be adjusted back and forth.
