Car: 86 Z-28
Engine: 356 4-bolt
Transmission: Borg warner T-5
mixing a v6 t-5 and v8 t-5
can the guts of a v6 t5 and a v8 t5 be mixed together. can i put the v8 main shaft and input shaft into the v-6 housing?

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
As far as the shafts go, you have to swap both the input shaft and countergear shaft together, and you could swap either the gearsets or the entire main shaft to match the gears on the countergear shaft; the gear tooth counts won't match up between them otherwise.
Stuff like the synchros and sliders can be swapped with no problem.
The phase 1 cases are the same for both the V6 and V8.
