Newbie PROM Question 350, T-5
Hi guys, I am new to this forum and have spent the last week just reading the different threads and using the search engine. I have learned alot, but I am still confused about a few things. Problem starts with the fact that GM didnt make a 91 Z28 350 with a T-5 on it, and it seems like all the posts about this say, use the 305 Manual and a 350 Auto bins, mix em together and it will work. I figure that one of you guys out there has to have a stock L98 block with a t-5 behind it with the proper bin already made out, and I was wondering if any of you would mind sending it to me. Swapping the tranny is going to be easy, but all this PROM stuff is really new to me and I will be buying the programmer/cable to program my own chips, but I was hoping for a known good config that one of you pros have made so I can understand what is right and wrong before I start messing with burning the chips. Any help is much apreciated in either a post in this thread, a PM or e-mail.
Thanks in advance guys,
Steven

Nah. "Someone send me a bin" doesn't sound like asking for help. Having actually read the articles, I'd think he'd be asking about the cylinder volume constant, spark maps, VE tables, and whatnot.
And who knows what he'd get if someone does send a bin? Some prankster could send him a bin configured with super-lean VE tables, way too much spark, etc. and he'd toast his engine.

yes, the easiest way to do this is to take a 305 5spd BIN and modify it.
From a "plug and pray" standpoint, what you need to do is take a 305 5spd bin, and import all the calibration tables (VE, timing, AE, etc. etc. etc.) into the 305 5spd BIN so that you have 5spd code calibrated for the L98.
After that, it's tune, tune, tune.

that's true, too. have to disable the oil temp sensor stuff, and the calibration is different (vettes got better heads), but either way you are looking at a bit of work.
as they say - six of one, half dozen of the other....

That's exactly what I did when I went SD, just grabbed ARFP.bin and revised it to reflect my 0.030" oversized bores and slightly bigger injectors. Everything since then as been based on ALDL data captures looking at spark knock and BLMs.

Wanted to know, is it safe to use a ALPL from the incomming directory, couldnt find it in the archive area where the ARFP was.

I used AXXD, which is a 92 305 5-speed G92 bin. I changed the injector constant and the cylinder size, and then started data logging and tuning from there.
