4.10 Gear Swap (Yes I searched and IM'd!)

Swapped in 4.10 gears in my 1991 Camaro. I have a World class T-5 and the car was originally equipped with 3.08's. What two gears do I need to get the speedo accurate? I was told and have read that there are only 4 different combos out there and one is for the 4.10/4.11 gear swap. Please let me know.

With 26" tall tires you need a 7 tooth drive gear & 22 tooth driven.

Wow, that was quick! Thank you very much. I hope those aren't the discontinued ones from GM. I'll check on it in a minute.

Not as bad as I thought it would be. 2500rpm at 70. The biggest thing to get used to is the fact that you tend to feel the road more through the 4.11 as apposed to the 3.08's. Engine rpm is much higher and letting off the gas at speed has a much greater affect on your sense of forward motion.

in other words if you let right off the gas while doing 90 you do a faceplant in the dash

Forget 90, I get that "sensation" at 55!

How much top end did you lose?
I am not sure how fast I am really going since the speedo is 5-15mph off, but I believe I hit 140mph at redline (5K) which is probably 125 or so.

I've gotten all my work done a a professional dyno shop so I actually have good data to work with. When we had it on the rollers last week we did a full RPM run to the redline. (7K) I hit 114MPH. Not a problem at all for street driving but I may have some issues at the strip. If I am correct 114MPH in the 1/4 is somwhere in the low 12's. This car makes more than enough power to put in quite lower than that so we'll see but I have to wait until next year. The snow is falling up here in Michigan.

Oh yeah, I ment to ask you, 5K seems a little low for redline.

5K is the redline on the stock tach, maybe hes judging it off of that rather than the actual redline of the engine combo.

Is that 114mph at 7K in 4th or 5th gear?
I was playing around today and the speedo does hit 140mph at 5K rpm in 5th gear. My engine is stock besides the HSR that is on it and the pull stops around 5K for my setup.

That's in 4th gear. We did most of the testing in fourth for the 1:1 drive ratio. With that being my top speed I'm not quite sure if I'll have any engine left in the 1/4. I'd hate to have to use fifth!

Unless your using 22.5" tires, you're going alot faster than 114 at 7K in 4th gear.

Try this: http://www.f-body.org/gears/

More like 132 with 26" tires at 7K.

heres some good info for yah

Driven Gear Teeth = (Drive gear teeth x axle ratio x tire revs/mile)/1000

http://ddperformance.com/speedo_gear_chart.htm

colors for driven gears... manual trans
16T -17T -18T--19T--20T -- 21T
wine white yellow pink black red

those are from ford based site so not all sure if its teh same internals but i dont see what not

there is a 23T white driven gear... but its not a ford gear so it also probly could work maybe with a 7T and that 23T???
