Hows a 4500 stall gonna run on the street?

My engine makes the most amount of its torque at a hair short of 4500, so I got this 4500 stall. I now plan to drive this car on the street up to the track or on the weekends, how do you think it's gonna drive on the street? Engines pretty powerful and gearing is 3.73 if that helps.

i've driven cars with 4500 stall on the street, there's not burnouts at every light. on the highway it's not soo bad either, just feel really loose. you can control your takeoff quite easily, although a large tranny cooler and temp guage are a necessity to prevent overheating

how large trans cooler did you use? I was thinking of Flex a lites 26,000 GVW trans cooler. You think that'll work?

That should be fine

My converter stalls at 5700 on the transbrake but it's not street legal. I can drive around the pits with no problem. At an idle the car won't even move until the throttle is pushed a bit.

When driving under the stall speed rpm, the converter is slipping. All this slipping builds heat. That's why you need a good cooler. Keep the tranny oil temp below 240* if possible. I like to see mine in the 180-200 range.

i agree, i've driven a few cars with stall speeds over 4000 and the only thing to be concerned about is the trans temp.

Drove the wheels off mine in town, interstate, racing, etc...love it. Get the biggest tranney cooler possible and you'll be fine.

My street tranny temps= 120*

I have to engauge transbrake prior to a run to get it upto 150*, it just does not heat up like one would think, but this is a 10" unit....we run a 8" unit with same stall rating and it'll get up there in temp quickly, but will also recover about as quickly.

You'll be fine with a big cooler.
