4l60e vs 700r4
whats the difference in the 94 and 95 4l60e out of transams? is there a difference? and also. is it possible to use the 700r4 fluid cooling system for the 4l60e? will the transmission lines and everything match up size wise?

They are basically the same, however the 4L60E needs a factory ECM or aftermarket controller to make it shift. I believe the cooler lines on the 4L60E are the quick disconnect style & the 700R4 are thread in. You would have to change the connectors at the trans to the style tubing you are using.

im wondering if you can put a 94 4l60e directly behind a 95 lt1 and use the 95 lt1 harness if youd have any trouble with it operating right and throwing codes at you. also. in a 3rd gen <had the 305 tbi/700r4> will the transmission mount to the crossmember ok? or do you have to alter it in any direction. and if so. how?

ok not to get off hand but is there any benefits to switching from a 700r4 to a 4L60e?

Re: 4l60e vs 700r4
To answer your question, you get computer aided shifts. The 700R4 used weights in the governor (similar to the advance weights in a distributor) and a cable attached to the throttle to determine shift points. The 4L60E uses a computer to set the shift points. Assuming that you can tune the transmission computer, then it will give you a slightly more accurate shift point. Another point is that the LS1 4L60E is stronger than the LT1 4L60E, and the LT1 4L60E is pretty much the same as the 700R4 besides the computer shifts instead of mechanical shifts.

A 94 4L60E should work just fine behind a 95 LT1 motor/harness. Just make sure you're not fooling with a 93 4L60, as those still used a TV cable to control the shift points.

Re: 4l60e vs 700r4
95 4l60E has pwm (pulse width moderation) which uses a solenoid to vary the pulse to the torque converter lockup, 94 4l60e does not have the one pwm valve in the valvebody which is right under the tcc solenoid what you can do is put pump, valvebody, tranny harness to the 94 then it will work.
Re: 4l60e vs 700r4
Oh I see. Yeah, that's kinda similar to what we had to do with a Ford EAOD trans. We took it out of a 351 V8 van and put it in a 300 straight 6 cylinder van, and we had to drop the pan and change out the electronic control module that's attached to the valve body. The shift points were WAY outta whack with the V8 module. After putting the proper module in there, it worked perfectly. So in other words, the 94 is useable in the 95 as long as you swap a few parts over when changing it.
