Is the auburn pro that much better than the high performance one. Is it worth the extra 100 dollars or so.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
I'd recommend AGAINST any of the Auburn units.
Get the Eaton High Perf one instead.
And yes, that one is worth the slight extra cost.

that does seem to be a popular answer. It seems like 70% of people like the eaton and the rest like auburn, or others.

Alot of people like the Eatons. I have the Auburn pro and like it alot. It is pretty agressive, but still drives great. I have no traction issues on street or strip, even on street tires.

If you really want to hook up get a detroit locker.........otherwise the eaton and the auburn do the same thing, they just do it differently. The pro auburn is better than the high performance unit and will probably last longer. The eaton is rebuildable vs. the auburn you can only repair some of the parts. The auburn comes with a 4 year replacement warranty. Go to the reider racing website to see their rating schedule of all the possible differentials that you could use. I researched this for a while before I made my decision and I still feel like I would like to have a detroit locker. FLAME ON FOLKS............... Supreme Member

To address the questions in order; 1 the eaton is rebuildable until you break the case. I have just been to their website and could not locate any warranty info.....that does not mean there is none, I just could not locate it in the short time I was there. Auburn gear on the other hand has the D-REX program right up front on their website. I also did not say that the Auburn was better than the Eaton, I simply stated the basic differences in the two units. I also did not go into great detail because I am not an expert on this matter. I did however state that the Detroit Locker is probably the best unit out there depending of course on what you want to do with it.
2 I bought the Auburn pro unit as is listed in my sig. I also stated that I would really like to try a Detroit Locker just for gits and shiggles. Iam guilty of thinking in 1/4 mile increments where some of the other differentials might outperform the D/L such as autocross. The best way m300slr can decide which is right for him is to do a search on the diffs listed and and don't try to cheap out.

That is exactly what I am thinking. I dont want to go cheap. I plan on this rear lasting me a while. The car will only be driven on road and realy pushed every once and a while. So that is why I am thinking of the auburn or the eaton. I found the eaton units on ebay for $390.00. and the auburn standard duty for $245.00. I cant find a auburn pro for less than $400. But looking at all the other posts. Most people lean towards the eaton, but rarely say anything bad about the auburn. So I am starting to lean to eaton.

Hmmmm
I got me an Auburn Pro.
I like it, works great.
We'll see what happens when I get around to boosting it :-)
