New 350 + 700r4 Stock Tranny = Issues
Hi guys,
I have an 84 Trans Am. I recently swapped my original motor for a 350 (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku). I reused the stock torque converter and 700r4 auto tranny. It seems to shift...differently now. The tranny doesn't shift until 2500 or 3000 rpm. And it's a harder shift than before. Is this normal? Does the tranny just need time to adjust to a new engine?
Thanks,
Joe

sounds like a misadjusted TV cable to me. especially since you did a swap. there is too much play in the line.
press the D clip in on the tv cable and push the plastic rail/plunger towards the firewall as far as itll go. get in the car and press the gas pedal down and itll ratchet out....that will be a good general area to start adjusting the tv.
