i was just wanting to know if a 9" out of a granada or mustang would be the same width so i wouldn't have to spend so much on a rear housing, but thanks for the info guys you've still been a great help

You'll probably spend more using a junkyard diff. You're going to have to find some way to attach or eliminate the torque arm. Although what you find in the junkyard will probably work, you'll probably want big bearing axles and 31 spline axles.
When I went diff hunting, I found a 1970 F100 diff to be the perfect width and it used the big bearings. All I could use was the housing. The only downside to the housing was that the pinion wasn't centered. Both my axles are the same length. Normally the driver side axle is about 2" longer than the passenger side in a 9". I moved all the mounting hardware for the shocks and springs from a third gen 10 bolt housing onto the 9" housing. I'm using a ladder bar suspension so I don't need a torque arm mount. I use a Strange spool and Strange 31 spline custom ordered axles.
I "think" third gen diffs are about 63" from axle flange to axle flange (the face that the drum/rotor/wheel sits against). Don't forget that ford uses a different bolt pattern for their wheels also. I used Ford drum brakes for an easy brake solution. My rims already have dual bolt pattern.

It's called a measuring tape. Jack your car up, pull the wheels and do a measurement if you don't know or want to take a guess.
youwant to know how wide it is,call moser ask them how wide their 9 9inch 3rd gen rear housing is,theyll be glad to tell you.
no granadas didnt have 9 inchs,if you read it was the versailies edition, the fancy granda looking car with the stupid fake spare tire bubble looking trunk.yes that has a nine inch with disk brakes.it use to be a hot set up for the mustang guys cause it was a direct bolt in and you got disk brake sbut with all the aftermarket stuff nooone goes that route anymore
as far as building your own junk yard rear to fitr forget about it.
where you getting the control arm brackets, the spring perches, the track bar mounts and most importantly the torque arm bracket???
well some guys try cutting their old brackets off...please......you can buy the torque arm bracket from moser for like 2-300 dollars ...then are you going to weld it properly and centered and know at what angle to set the brackets so your pinion angle is right?????hmmmmmmmm oh and since you r new 9 inch rear has a lower pinion gear you can use your old 10 bolt as a "guide"for setting the angle either...and while your at it you just added about 70 lbs to your car with a 9 inch and lost over 3 percent horse power thru drivetrain loss over your 10 bolt...........wow
if you dont need a 500 hp plus rear forget a 9 inch..if you need a beefed up rear spend the 8-900 dollars and beef up the 10 bolt..done right its goo dfor 400 hp..you got more than 400 hp?

Granadas/Monarchs did use the 9" when you ordered 4wheel discs and a 351.I know it's sounds odd but you could get it.And your're right the Versaille was just a dressed up version of the Granada(Lincoln's answer to the Seville)Similar to early Monzas,'75 and maybe '76, that you could get a 305(maybe even a 350 but I'm not sure)in it from the factory.
Anthony you make a very good point on going from the 10 bolt to a 9" unless you're doing some serious drag racing and/or you have a SB/BB pushing over 400HP and probably 500lb/ft of torque.
