clutch question

ok, so my car is a 91 RS 305 tbi 5-spd.
it's a WC t-5
it was sitting for about 2 years before i bought it.
so now my question is...how far off the floor is the pedal when yall's clutch starts to engage?
mine is relaly close...like 1/2 inch or so
i also have to put it in 5th before reverse or it will grind
and even though i did have the trans out to rebuild it, i didnt pull the bell housing off and check out the clutch...i was trying to get the car finished by a specific date, and i didnt have a replacement clutch on-hand so...i dont know if the clutch that's in it is factory or aftermarket. sorry i can't provide that info. i was thinkin maybe the problem is that the clutch and everything just has to be worked out from sitting for so long (i dont get to drive the car that much as it is not street-legal yet). but if i'm lucky then it could jsut be an aftermarket clutch right? one of my friends has a 99 mustang with a t-5 and after he put in a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, his engagement was about like mine (extremely close to the floor to the pedal's normal rest position)

any info/help yall can provide me with would be great.

thanks!

Well my engaugement is at the top of the pedal, but my setup is different.
T5 will grind going into reverse because it does not have a syncho. Just go 5th to reverse or any forward gear and then to reverse and you will avoid the grind.

You can get aftermarket or parts store quality. Depends on your goals and your budget.

i do put it in 5th and the reverse to avoid the grind. what i was saying aobut aftermarket clutches...is that my friend's mustang used to have a centerforce dual friction and his engagement was like mine is. however, he had to have a stock clutch put back in it, and his engagement is normal again (top half or so of the pedal). what i was asking is basically if anyone here hs the same pedal engagement as i do - from about 1/2 inch or so off the floor and the whole way back up. if so, has your engagement always been like that or did you change something and that's how it was as a result?

small sidenote...i love the way my pedal engagement is...but my dad keeps tellin me it's messed up and i need to replace my master/slave cyllinders which i relaly dont wanna do...

anyways, thanks again

And why is that? I have a brand new centerforce df that does that, and I dont like it.

my centerforce dual friction clutch was doing the same thing as your guys at first. i have a t56 trans and when i went to let out the clutch about a 1/2 inch it would grip. i just re bleed the clutch line and it fixed it. it shifts perfect just like it's suppose to .
