I have a 438 bb in my 85 iroc and i cant decided if i want 410 or 456 gears. The motor has 11-1 comp, 595 lift cam, stock cast heads with 2.19 1.88 valves. torquer 2 intake, and a holley 800 cfm carb. The motor is backed by a turbo 350 with a 3200 to 3600 stall.

really need to know what size tires you are running. a friend ran my car with a 454 and 4.10 and 28 inch tires and was running low 7's in the 1/8. past the 1/8 he needed more gear or less tire. i am running sbc in the same car with 26 inch tires and am redlining around 1000 foot (that is how long the track i race at is). he had to run the 1/8 in his class. i have to run the 1000 in mine. his new car has 4.88 and 28 inch tires and works great in the 1/8 and redlines 1000 foot . both cars have th 350 trans with 4000 stall.

imo i would go for 4.56 to run the 1/8
4.10 for the 1/4 but that is my

 

i also talked to a friend that builds race chassis and runs a 41 ****** drag car he runs 5.12 or something like that so me i dont redline at 9500 like he does i keep mine around 6500

 

ok cool, i did the gear calulater and with the 4.56 it showed at 6500 i would be at 115 in third with a turbo 350.
