Are all T5s or T56s the same?

On ebay, I see transmissions, like the T5, billed as from a Mustang.. But apart from that, it's still a T-5/// Is this the same kind of transmission that will fit our cars, or is the external stuff different? I can imagine it would be different, but the all have the same names, so i'm curious...
Excuse the ignorance...

Different input shafts and bellhousing bolt paterns. In other words...ford for ford....gm for gm.

viper and corvette t-56's are different from camaro and firebirds. They have different gear ratios and are more durable to handle more power.

Ok, that makes sense..
Se, when looking for a T-5 or a T56 for a Camaro, what are the words I'm looking for? This is for a 350 HO, by the way..
And, did any t-56s ever come in camaros? I didn't think so, but could totally be wrong. So, if the Viper/Vette ones are overkill, and likely more expensive, which ones do I want?
thanks all..
Just got bored of the auto, and the 350 ho will kill it too.. Th200c ( I think, 3 spd auto for sure)= no fun.

EDIT: BEcause I just couldn't stand reading carmaro...:S

T56 came in 1993-2003 camaros.... you want a 1993-1997 T56 for direct bolt up.

Is that a 93-97 out of an F body or does it not matter?

Thanks

I believe he's informing me that the T56 came in the 93-03 Camaros.. But, then to get direct bolt up into our cars (or, presumably, a camaro, since I mentioned it, and there might be a difference) you want the 1993-1997 version of the Camaro T56..

But, then again, this was my question, so I probably know less than you do on the subject...

I might have to start calling local junkyards then...

Thanks guys, very helpful.

Actually, the 93 F-body T56 is different than the 94-97 one.
gear ratios are different as well as the power rating.
you want the 94-97 one.

What is the power rating for the 93 vs the 94-97?

Thanks
