9 bolt axle bearing replacement?
Got my axles out. There appears to be a fat retaining sleeve in board of the bearing itself. How can I get this off. Will I have to have it "pressed" off. It looks to be seperate from the bearing's inner race. Will that have to be pressed off and on also? Anyone who has replaced 9 bolt bearings before please respond. I hate having other people work on my stuff so if there is a way to do it myself I would like to know. Thanks.
Yes, they need to be pressed on and off. Also, you will need new seals. There is a right and left side difference on the seals. Let who ever is doing the work which seal goes with which axle.

i just did this a few days ago
i used a cutoff tool (wizwheel) to cut about 3/4 of the way into the retainer ring and hammered on a cold chisel to crack it.i then wedged a flat screw driver into the cut and using a twisting motion to loosen the retainer ring on the axle shaft.next i used the cutoff tool to cut off the bearing cage and again using cutoff tool i cut most of the way into the inner bearing race on both sides, this is were you really need to be careful not to cut into the axle shaft.i than used the cold chisel again to break a crack into the inner race on both sides.the only problem i had was that the inner race was a hard metal than my chisel.but just had to regrind a new edge on it a couple times.
after i had the old stuff off i put the axles in the parts washer and then pressed the new bearings and retainers on
note: make sure you get the correct seal on the right axle.there tow different part numbers.the bearings are the same on either side.
