Speedo gears - cable vs VSS...help!
OK, I have a little problem here....
91 Firebird/700R4 trans
I did a gear swap, 2.73s to 3.23s, need to replace speedo gears. I ordered the 17 and 43 tooth gears (The ones that BowtieOverdrives.com said I needed for my setup), the 43 tooth "driven" gear is this weird looking one like this:

Whereas the one I have in the car looks more like this
I've found out that the one in my car is for an electric speedo (VSS), whereas the one I received in the mail is for a cable-driven speedo...
My question is, WHERE can I get the appropriate driven gear for my electric speedometer (that's what I assume I have)??
Thanks...

If you know the part number, GM still sells them. I used to have a TPIS book that listed all of the gears and part numbers. I will try to find it today. If I do, I will try to find the number.
Even for a cable driven speedo, that gear they sent you looks totally wrong. My cable driven gear looks just like the one on your VSS. Floorguy's right, you should be able to still get the gear you need from GM. You need the gray driven gear. I'm running 3.23's in mine, and that's the color of my driven gear.

That's not the actual gear they sent me, it's not accurate to the color, I just posted up the general shape.
How would I go about ordering a part from GM, and does anyone know how I can find the part number?
Thanks.

Just go to the parts dept at the Stealership and tell them what gear u want. I work at one, I told them what gears I wanted and they just ordered one in, the other they had in stock. took 2 days, @$7 each.
