possibly runing my tranny?

i rebuilt my transmission recently with my dad, who has done a million before. we used the TCI rebuild kit off summit, the transmission is a 700-R4. my experiences with the transmission are as follows:

1) drive to reverse, takes about 2 seconds.
2) when i go from drive to reverse, or vise versa, the transmission, or the driveshaft makes a loud clunk noise, which used to happen before the rebuild, so i think it might be the u-joints or something.
3) when im on the highway, or when the car is reving high, then i let off the gas, the rpm's do NOT come down from like 4k to 1k nice and easy like i think they should, instead they start to come down slowly, then drop fast, and then slow again.... its REALLY hard to explain, but it makes me think the tranny is messed up, i just really dont feel like tearing it apart again.

any ideas??

It almost sounds like your idle speed is too high or you have issues with the IAC settings. Does the converter lock up?

I'm not sure how to tell if it is locking up in the first place... could you tell me?

This clunking your hearing sounds just like a problem I am having with my 87 iroc. I too am having problems with the idle and timeing so maybe they are connected thus causing the problem.. Sorry but I don't now how to fix it...
