Best Trans Fluid and How Much?

I have a 700r automatic and am going to drop it to install a new Vigilante Converter and pull the pan and change the filter at the same time.
What's the best fluid manufacturer, opinions, any to avoid?
How much should I buy to fill the converter and pan (suppose I could measure what I drain out)?
Thanks, I did a search but didn't find much

Change the filter, before you drop the trans, that way it will be empty when you drop it...less mess. I would use what the manufaturer recommends, in our case Dextron III. Use what brand you like, I prefer Vavoline. I have used what ever is the least expensive before, though.

Fill the converter with a quart. Then after its all buttoned up, fill the pan with two quarts. When you start the car, put it in drive, this will use the fluid in the pan, then add more quarts until it reaches the level on the dipstick. When my trans was new, it took about a case of fluid. Yours might take less as the ENTIRE trans will not be dry.
