Lockright install problem

I just got a Lockright unit for my 7.5" rear with 26 spline axels. The problem is this thing is too wide. There is no way to physically fit in to the carrier. I have tried two different carriers, both had the same problem.

Without the thrust washers, which are suppose to be in, it looks like it might just physcally fit, with zero room to let the half rotate let alone get the last C-clip in there. With the couplers and drivers pressed tightly together, the unit measure 2.735" from thrust washer surface to thrust washer surface. Anybody have one in a box they would like to compare that to?

Thank You for any help,
Steve

Well figured out the problem. Apparently some Camaros had 7.625" rear gear with 26 spline axles. These carriers are different then the 7.5" 26spline carriers. Looks like I need to find the 7.625 with 26 spline axels

I know that for 26 spline axles there are 2 different
carriers, theres series 2 and series 3..

I think series 2 is a bit larger with bigger spider gears.

I have one in my basement its open differential
with 2.78 ring gear..if your interested.

Some of the 7.5" open carriers have two even sized "windows", or openings in the case, and some have two odd sized openings. I think it depends on the year. Even if you have the right carrier, sometimes you have to clearance the opening a bit with a die grinder to get the lockright unit in. I installed one in my 69 camaro 12 bolt's open carrier and had to do this to get the unit in. Also, getting the c-clips in or back out is always a really tight fit on mine. There's barely enough room to do it. Good luck!
