need really good 3-4 clutch pack for 500hp

Has anyone had any good luck with upgrading the 3-4 clutch pack? what brand are you using? have heard that the thin steels are not good to use because they can't disipate the heat. So which kit with the thick steels has been working good and holding to around 500hp? I am rebuilding my trans now and have heard that the alto thin steels and 9 brown frictions only hold up to 350 hp, but am leary about putting them in now as I have more power than that.

Hey i origionally rebuilt my trans with the usual 9 clutches and thin steels, but i got burnt up really quick. i talked to a performance shop in florida that only builds 700r4's and they said you have to use a pack with 7 clutches so they are thicker and so are the steels(this also uses and extra backing plate to build up the thickness). I used the raybestos 3-4 clutch pack plus their special backing plate which was $79 and used a raybestos band that was $28 from http://www.transmissioncenter.net/Al...nsmissions.htm. I have this trans behind a 450hp sbc with 150 nitrous shot and it has held up great. I also rebuilt it with a torque drive kit with hardedend everything including the beast sunshell gear, input and output shafts.

so the raybestoes blue plate special is the one to get? anyone else have any input? I was thinking the blue plate over the red eagle kolene's. but just wanted some experiance from past users and builders.
thanks.

Go to http://www.700r4l60e.com/store/custo...&cat=52&page=2 This is a good start, but the Trans-Go Performance shift kit, Corvette servo, large boost valves, will give you what you want here.

thanks pro built! I wish I would have found your total kit, the strip version before I aquired some of the stuff I have now. Right now I have an alto rebuild kit with the 9 friction power pack. I'm not using the power pack that came with it. also I have the beast sunshell, .500 boost valve, pinless accumulators, 2-3 check valve, corvette servo, and an edge converter. I also think I need a pump steel ring kit with the stronger slide spring, and possibly a 10 vane pump upgrade (my trans is an early 85), and what about the 3-4 high rev spring kit? the sprag is updated. any other parts you would recomend? It has a shift kit in it already from tci. Thanks for your help!
