What benifit will i get switching 3.23's to 3.73's??

Engine: Rebuilt Vortec Headded 358SB 9.5:1
Transmission: 700r4, corvette servo, Transgo kit
Axle/Gears: 3.23 POSI
What benifit will i get switching 3.23's to 3.73's??
my 86 IROC came with a gear set of 3.23 posi.. in my quest to make it go faster i was wondering if it would be better to swap them out for 3.73's?? and will 3.73's bolt into place of the stock ring and pinion?
Also- what all might i need for the swap, what is a good price on a set?

The 3.73s would give you slightly better off the line acceleration with the loss of some top end unless you make mods to put the engine RPM range higher to compensate ... truthfully it wont make a big difference and you can use other mods to gain more speed and keep your cruise RPM down ..

What mods can i use to gain more off the line torque and good 60ft's?
This engine was originaly connected to a TH350 and a 3.73 rear end, it was then carburated and felt like it had lots of power.. since i've put it into my camaro it feels like i've lost some.. Whats goin on there?

it feels like i've lost some
3.73 gears with the Vortec setup and some tuning should be OK. They'll give a helluvalot more than a "slightly" better launch; like, it'll feel like a whole other car. You could also try a converter; something in the 2400 RPM neighborhood would be a big improvement over the stock 1400-1600 RPM.

I have ported TPI stuff, vortec heads, and a bigger engine.. and an ARAP bin set up for the 24# lt1 injectors... and a stock 10 bolt posi 3.23 gear rear
So is my ****ty gearing a big part of my problem?
And i am looking into tryin to get a 2400 stall.. right now it stalls out at about 1800 w/ stock 305 converter...
Whats a good price to look at for gears? ( my stock rear is posi btw) and what should i look for to make sure they will fit?
