TH350 Conversion. Not a FAQ
Looking at the installation sheet it shows an "upper support" going to between the 700r4 crossmember and tranny mount. What is that? I dont have one.
Now I am actualy going from a T5 to a th350. Do I still need to get a differenet outer torque arm bracket?
The description of the kit said "everything you need" now once I get it, it says buy more stuff That makes me mad

I know. I got a 700r4 crossmember and tranny mount. But I dont have anything that looks like the "upper support" shown in the pic in the instructions.

are you talking about the two piece crossmembers that were used on some years? if so most newer thirdgens didn't have that. for my swap i needed the trans relocation bracket in the kit, the 700R4 crossmember, TH350 poly trans mount, and the torque arm adapter to the trans from the kit. it all bolted up easily enough.

So the older 700r4 crossmembers were 2 pieces, right? I dont NEED a 2 piece crossmember for the swap, right? Mine is from a 91 or 92.
All I have to get is the outer torque arm bracket like the instructions say? (but not the item description as advertised)

i'm using a one piece trans crossmember. the outer bracket on my 84 Z28 bolted up fine to it. i'm using energy suspension tranny mount for a TH350, and a poly torque arm mount, not sure if a 700R4 trans mount will bolt up or not. I just switched to all poly and called it a day. also running poly motor mounts as well.

I hate to ask a question in someone elses thread, but what conversion kit did you use? I have the hurst kit and it dosent seem that the torque arm bracket wants to fit the hurst bracket just right.

according to Autozone online, some 700r4 tranny mounts fit th350's too. Ill find out if mine works when I do the swap. I bought the last outer bracket PACE had, its looks almost the same. If i get my old one to work Ill just return it. Time to do it! Hope for no problems

right just the outer bracket, the conversion kit is the inner one basically
There are 3 different styles of torque arm clam shell brackets that were used on our cars from 82-92. If you do a search on TH350 you should be able to find more information on this problem. Alot of other people have run into this problem, me included (and I also used the hurst kit and it also didnt fit very well).

well, today i got out there and swapped the tailshaft housing on the 350, which is a long tail, with my 700 tailshaft. Everybody has said it wouldnt work, but the speedo gear line up perect and the yoke goes in about 2 inches past the seal, more than enough to hold the fluid in. Why has everyone said it wouldnt work??The yoke dosent have to slide all the way till the yoke ears are right up to the end does it?

Just got most of the swap done. Turns out, going from a T5 to Th350, you need to buy the inner torque are bracket, and not the outer like the dircetions say. The only thing I need to know now are what size nipple fittings I need to screw into the tranny cooler lines. Or do the big fittings on there unscrew? Im using rubber hose, not metal lines.

instead of all rubber hose i'd use 5/16" brake line from your local parts store. i used 52" and 60" lines for top and bottom. That is the best way to do it on the cheap and just bend your own. Otherwise I used stainless braided lines and aeroquip fittings, but it was probably $175 or so when all was said and done.

Ok guys. Im not trying to hijack the thread, but I have the same problem with my B&M kit. I have a 89 TA bracket and cant seem to figure out how to get it to work.
Can someone walk me throught it?

One more candidate for the walk through of the B&M bracket torque arm swap kit - the B&M instructions came looking like a poor photocopy - you cant see anything on the pictures they have included
On my stock torque arm mount, the slot to hook the outer clamshell bracket into is on the bottom side- meaning closer to ground
When I trial fit the B&M bracket the way I think the instructions say it should bolt up, it looks like its the other way around - the two slots on the B&M bracket where you would hook the outer clamshell bracket into ends up on top - so your outer clamshell works upside down
Is this correct??
To be more accurate as to how I installed it, the B&M bracket has a roundish hole cut - when I trial fit it - it appears that the roundish hole is to allows the speedo cable hookup to pass through on the left drivers side of the transmission looking from the rear
Is this the correct orientation of the bracket as it seems able to bolt up more than one way on the housing
