Question about dipstick for 700R4

I just did an engine/tranny swap, and my dipstick seal is leaking and I can't figure out why. So, I'm thinking about putting in a firewall mount flexible dipstick. Do these with the o-rings at the bottom seem to seal up fairly well. Do they work better, worse, or no different than the stock ones? Also, I can get a long one at the parts store that fits a 350 or 400 tranny, but the only ones they have for the 700R4 are the short ones. Will the longer ones for the 350 or 400 fit the same in the 700R4, or are they different?

Thanks,
Eric

my guess is it's leaking because you cut it installing it or don't have it installed correctly. it's easy to do and you end up with a leak, it's best to have someone guide it in and someone push from the top, if you have help. the o rings seal very well, and are easy to cut when you install the tube. all you need to do is be careful and pay attention.

the flexable ones are a pita to get the fluid in

So basically, stock vs o-ring type seals, there isn't much difference in how well they work and how bad they suck to install? If I should just get a new rubber bushing seal and try that, I will. I'm sure everybody knows what a pita it is to get at that top passenger side tranny to engine bolt, and my thinking was getting a firewall mounted stick would eliminate this headache in the future if I continue to have problems.
