I think my tranny is shot.

Well when im in first gear and i step on it , right before it switches gears it makes this metal slippage noise . for liek 1-3 seconds. last week my tranny ran dry for like 1 mile becuse there was no fluid dew to th sloooow tranny leak, i didnt check it in forever which i shoudl have and it got too dry and didnt switch gears till i filled her back up. does it sound liek i f***ed this tranny up?
