stupid question

i plan on doing an auto to manual swap soon and i was wondering about changing the ecu, i mean it should be common sense about that you should change it out to a manual on i would think but from what a hear from all my buddies that did the swap i have never heard of changing the ecu also, so i was just wondering if i need to for my thirdgen or not, i know about the fuel curves and shift points, but like i said its a stupid question...also what would be the cheapest way to ge the ecu where i need it to be if i need to change it!

the ecu is the same, the chip is slightly different, but you can ship it out and have it flashed to the proper settings cheap(i think TPIS is like $30-$50 for minor prom changes) - the fuel curves, shift points, etc are no different. The engine is still the same, the power nor the power band is changing, thus the tune is still the same.
