$th gen rear swap

Ive read a lot about this and it seems pretty straight forward. It will fix al the problems with my current rear which are the j65 brakes that dont work, will give me a lower ratio that i need than my current 3.73s give me and will beef up my drive train a bit.is there a certain one i should look for, and about how much does a junkyard fetch for one. Or do you think id be better off installing the gm recall kit for the calipers(which ive heard doesnt always fix the problem) And eventually getting me some 3.23's. my main focus is getting the brakes fix, cuz theyve almost had me in a few bad wrecks, the gears can come later. So what yall think?

You can get a complete 4th gen rear for around $200 and up. I would personally go with an LS1 rear end for the bigger brakes. Check with mark @ High Perfomance Salvage, inc. . Tell him david told you to call. Keep in mind though, the existing wheels will look pretty goofy due to the longer axle tubes.

The 93-97 rears with the pbr's brakes are good rearend but the LS1 rears have better brakes and most likely the posi differential would be more up to par than the LT1 rear ends unless you found a low mileage one like I did. But either way sounds like you will be happy with the swap. Just make sure your back rims are size 16 inch rims or larger because 15's won't work.
