10 bolt 7.5/7.625" 26 spline 28 splines came on the 89up i believe.

If this is a street car you HAVE to use a limited slip aka Posi. Lockers will twist off axles on corners.

Depending on the type of locker, yes they all have the potential to stay locked going into a corner and you will be picking up your tire (still bolted to the axle) out of the guys lawn you just drove by

Well, they have some decent deals of posi's on ebay how difficult is it to install them... I pulled the axles and open gears out of my rear end and back together no problem... i heard lockers are easy to install... how about posis?

lockers are easy to install...and work fine on the street, but don't put any power to them

putting in a posi is as easy as setting up the gears themselves...you have to set backlash, and without the proper equipment is impossible.

Car: projects.......
the cheapy lockers that drop in in place of the axle/spider gears are simple to install, but will look like the above under decent power and street use. You 26 spline factory axles won't handle a locker under street use. If it stays locked 1 time(they all do from time to time) you'll have pieces instead of an axle, and as stated, please pick it, the brake drum and the wheel/tire out of the guys front lawn....your wheel well won't be too happy either(c-clips and broken axles = bad things)
Any full-on locker/posi is going to be a complete carrier, therefore will require proper set-up of the ring and pinion. Otherwise, set-up is the same for both.

The only advice I'll give you is that if you mainly drive on the street, and only take it to the track occasionally, stay far, far away from the powertrax style locker units! Granted, they're easy to install, but it's one shortcut not worth taking I promise you. They make the car miserable to drive on the street as they're clunky, jerky, and noisy. Ask me how I know this. I ran one in my 69 camaro 12 bolt rearend and hated it. It never broke anything, but it made such a loud bang around corners when it would lock back up suddenly that I thought for sure I'd just snapped an axle in half! I won't deny that they give you fantastic traction, but they're downright scary around a fast turn, and it's extremely embarrassing to listen to all the clunking they made when you turn sharply in a parking lot. If it's a race only car, go for it, otherwise, get an eaton or auburn style posi and enjoy life!

never once did i have an issue on the street with mine...it was when power was applied at the track with sticky tires that i had an issue. the issue also came about cause the car wheelhopped HARD. these things just don't hold up to the abuse
