How can you tell if the converter is locking up?

Just like the title says...

How can you tell if the converter is locking up?

Transmission: 700r4/t56 magnum
Axle/Gears: 9"
Go about 50 or so in 4th gear, then with your right foot still on the gas lightly, just to maintian your speed, gently tap the brake, not enough to slow down though. You should see the tach jump 200 or so RPM. the computer turns off the TCC when the brake is applied.

does that work with the 200c trannies as well? (Im assuming so)
