Weirdo Mount for '92 T-5, I need it GONE!!!
It broke last year, then i find out that its a hydraulic mount specific to 91 & 92 V6 cars. DISCONTINUED. 200 bucks from dealership only. So i bought a very hard to find used one. Well, it recently broke in the same spot the last one did.
So I bought two different V8 mounts to fab up, both are basically the same. A metal bracket that bolts to the trans case and a chunk of rubber to bolt to the crossmember. One has a bolt in the rubber already, which you secure with a nut to the crossmember, the other has no bolt in it. Instead it has two threaded holes for bolts (no nut needed).
After much experimenting I find that i cannot use my wierdo crossmember with these mounts because it's recessed upwards and sits much higher than a normal crossmember. The driveline angle will be extremely altered if i do so.
So... Does anybody know a specific cross member that will work on a plain old block mount with a T-5? I've seen alot variety in the junkyard... I need to know if I need a crossmember that mounts in the forward or rearward holes in the frame, a general idea of what they look like (pics of installed ones would be great), and if I need anything else to make this work.
I'm open to any other common or easily replaced mount/crossmember combo suggestions to bolt up to a T-5 too. i can always take these back and buy a different mount to go along with whatever member i pick up.
in advance for any help you guys can give me.

well, that thread helped alot, at least i know that crossmember will work, and one of the mounts i have will work
i went and pulled one of those crossmembers with the secondary piece and then i went around to a few parts stores trying to find the donut bushings.
the member i pulled has only one of the bushings, and it's totally shot, so i need new ones... but NO parts store around me has those things, or anything close to them. and the parts guys aren't much help, if i don't have a year and application for the crossmember its almost useless, took me an hour at each store to try and find one close to it, but nothing.
anybody know where i can order those mounts from?
anybody know what car (year, motor, and trans) that crossmember and mount came stock on?

As far as I know GM hasn't discontinued the OEM rubber pieces. Mine (in the pic) are from Energy Suspension--Summit / ENS-3-1109R. $17.95

they sure aren't a common part to find, no one even listed them as existing
i've called 8 different auto parts stores from here to sacramento, and no one had it (most haven't heard of it, but let's not comment on the general knowledge of "parts guys")
the only place i can find it is in JEG's, so I guess I'm biting the bullet and waiting a day or two
I'm gonna drop the part number... future reference for anyone that searches this
secondary transmission mounts
part #355-3-1109G
thanks for helping me out James
without your post i wouldn't have found the correct terminology for those mounts to even search for them correctly, lol

Your solution is actually quite simple. All you need is an 84-92 V8 700r4 crossmember and a good old energy suspension polyurethane mount, and you'll be good to go. All the V8 T5's use the same crossmember as the 700r4, and that crossmember with a standard style tranny mount will work just fine on your V6 trans as well. You can get the crossmember from just about any junkyard for probably $10 and the poly mount for another $20. Of course you can always get a stock replacement GM rubber mount for about $8, but the poly ones are far superior to them for durability.

man......
^where were you with that simple and cleancut answer before i already got this all done? lol
thanks alot, but i already got it covered. i will probably end up switching to your suggestion whenever these mounts start to go just because of the cleanliness and abundance of that style. nice post though, this should be the end all post for the next person that searches on this problem
i somehow managed to still get one of the lesser common crossmembers, although ANYTHING would be an improvement over the old one

like in the above posts, i dint see what you couldn't just swap the crossmember for the 84-92 standard crossmember with the energy suspension poly mount.
I've never seen that mount before

Yep, like posted above, you need a crossmember from any f-body with the 700r4 in it and the trans mount to go with it. I did the swap in my 92 Camaro last summer. You have the standard rare PITA "donut" mount. Don't replace the mount you have, it'll just break again.
