2 cables attached to shifter?

ok so im changing my stock shifter to a hurst quarterstick shifter, and i got everything goin great but the one thing puzzling me is when i removed the stock shifter there were 2 cables running off of it one to the tranny obviuosly and a secong goin to what looks like the gauge cluster. anyone know what that second cable is for cause there is no place to put it on my new shifter? thanks!

I think it's a key turn lockout, forget now. Anyway, the collar on the steering wheel near the gauge panel moves. Just set it to where everything works fine and leave the cable.

Yup, it's the park-lock cable.
