Worn out trans?
So, I know that with the 700R4 the kick down (or TV) cable needs to be hooked up so the trans shifts properly. But, what about the THM 350? In my Nova, I have one and when I rebuilt it, I used a stock rebuild kit, but added a shift kit to it. When I first installed it, it gave "break neck" shifts, and off the line, it would launch hard. But lately the shifts have smoothed out, and off the line, there feels like some lag, or maybe some siipping. I have had this trans in my Nova for about a year & a half, and some really really hard miles. (I don't baby this car one bit!!) The kick down cable has never been hooked up, and I have a 2500 RPM stall TCI converter in it. When I go through the gears, it feels like the trans holds (no slipping) but I'm wondering if the clutches are starting to go? I doubt that the converter is going, but I could be wrong.
One day I pulled the dipstick to check the level, (due to a leak at the dipstick tube I need to check the level regularly), and the fluid smelled burnt. So I drained & refilled the oil, and added some Lucas additive. But the condition still exists.

The kickdown cable on a TH350 is different from the TV cable on a 700R4. It doesn't need to be connected, as long as you don't mind that the transmission won't downshift when you put your foot into it.
