changing rear fluid

anybody got some tips for me on what i should use to fill my rear the bottle has no room to tilt to fill it up. also the last owner used silicone instead of a gasket what should i use to scrape the old silicone off so i can get a nice clean area to put the new gasket on.

Use some of that clear rubber hose or tubing, to remove the gasket use a putty knife, a razor blade, or anything like it.

Most auto stores sell a small fluid pump with a plastic hose ($3 or $4), which screws onto a bottle. Easy as pie.

You can put a gasket in if you really want to, but it isn't necessary. If you clean the mounting surface with a good solvent like brake parts cleaner and just run a 1/4" bead of good silicone sealer like "the right stuff" from permatex, it'll seal up just fine without a gasket. I haven't bought a gasket in years for any of mine. And like JamesC said, just pick up a gear lube pump from a parts store for a few bucks to put the lube in. Makes it easy as pie.

got the fluid changed today

it was really easy bought some high performance valvaline 80w90 (2 quarts) a 7 oz bottle of limited slip additive a felpro rear differential cover gasket and a fluid pump for about 30 all together. The hardest part was cleaning the old sillicone off the cover and rear (the old owner didnt use a gasket and it leaked pretty bad. I recommend this for anybody who has a car with alot of miles on mine fluid was pretty dirty. Hard to fit a ratchet in some places and had to use a wrench but like i said easy job.
