tranny wont upshift

hey guys, i tried to search but didn't come up with much.

on my 90 IROC w/ the 700R4 the car won't upshift even if im light on the throttle until it gets up to around redline. The car won't shift into 3rd at all but it downshifts normally.

The guy i bought it from said he had unhooked some cable that connects to the tranny computer or something and that plugging it in would fix the problem. So today I tried to get under the car and I found the white 4-port ended cable/plug on the drivers side but I couldn't find the hole to plug it into.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Dude I just bought an 86 Iroc with the same problem. The guy told me it was a band adjustment issue but I just assumed that was a line and the tranny is really blown and expecting to rebuild. But if you find something out that would be great as I will check it on mine also. I realize the 86 and 90's trannys are alittle different but doesn't hurt to try!! I realize this doesn't help you, but good luck and i'll be watching to see if someone knows.

Sounds like a TV cable issue at the minimum and a junk trans at the maximum.

Adjust the TV cable and see what happens.

Sounds like the gov is the overriding factor in the shifts(high rpm/redline) so it more than likely doenst have throttle valve input.

Thanks for the information it certainly cannot hurt to try adjusting the TV cable. Hope it works, that would be great, beats buying a new tranny for now till I'm ready to upgrade it with a new 35o engine.
Thanks again!
